  1. I do not agree with LeWitt’s statement. Mysticism is about becoming one with God or other supernatural absolute. Now many artists may come to altered states of consciousness creating art, or their altered states of consciousness my result in art. Many artists can certainly relate to “The Dark Night of the Soul” by Juan de la Cruz (1542-1591) as their artistic journeys may lead them through suffering, torments and frustrations before experiencing the ecstasies of their finished work.
