About Douglas Moorezart

It seems a lifetime ago I earned a degree in Fine Arts only to find myself overtaken by life events. Now over 30 years later I’m finally becoming an artist. I’m trained as a painter and its my first love. In the last few years I’ve also given photography a try and you will find my attempts at same in my posts and, soon, my portfolio.

In a world where artist are pressured to measure their success based on others’ expectations — be it sales, representation, publication etc., I share this remarkable statement by Georgia O’Keeffe. (It definitely speaks to me)

“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing.  Making your unknown known is the important thing.”

  1. This was a great about statement!! Congratulations on following your heart and being able to come back to painting! There is something about painting, music and writing that is spiritual and even more soothing and joyful to the soul if your are blessed to be able to create it! Bravo to you my friend! I’m looking forward to following your blog. Thank you for following me. You might take a look at some of my early postings when I was still putting visuals with my poems. I would really like to get back to that. Perhaps? (a wondering word) You might have an interest in seeing if any of my words strike a chord in your heart enough so that it might inspire you to create a painting??? A little challenge to see if a few words can tempt your soul! Ha! Bravo!
